Nouvelle Chicane fashion-concept-eyewear delivers unmatched, bold and beautiful frames. All of our eyewear is designed and made by an independent designer in New York City using environmentally conscious and conservative approaches. We manufacture our frames in Queens NY and assemble them across the East River. Our studio is right next door to Hell’s Kitchen in midtown Manhattan. The pulse, the strength and the attitude of New York City radiates from every frame.
Our frames project the bold sophistication of the city and those who live here. The crisp lines, elegant curves and colors are obvious. We are not afraid to combine a diverse range of materials in our sculpture-like frames. Stainless steel, cable, brass, titanium and copper adorn our collection.
Each artistic frame is made one at a time. No excess, no waste, no senseless duplication, no piles of inventory. The very nature of our minimalistic approach makes the least impact on the environment.
A new product is in your hands in several weeks, not several months. Our approach reduces transportation, tax and pollution. Localized production has developed a local and highly skilled workforce. Nouvelle Chicane is an exclusive brand & Nouvelle Chicane is an independent. We are not ecommerce. This is where other brands fail, and we chose instead to strongly support our retailers. Price matching is a race to the bottom and degrades product exclusivity. There is an Added Luxury Value to our product, that really matters.
You will not find our frames available on the internet, only the Nouvelle Chicane website, and we do not provide prescriptions. We strongly advise you contact your local retailer for the best pricing and availability.
We are in stores but only those who have been approved and have the same respect for fashion and product and design integrity.

Introducing our luxury handmade pouches.
Great Question! Most pouches or boxes are cheap or too small. Nouvelle Chicane makes big luxury frames. They deserve better! Your problem is our challenge. Therefore, we have designed our own pouch. It’s big! It’s soft and luxurious. We make every single one in midtown Manhattan’s Garment District using the best materials found on 38th street.
Nouvelle Chicane designed a soft plush pouch in the Spring of 2022 to carry our beautiful frames. When you purchase a pair of our frames you will receive this luxury pouch. These are handmade in NYC’s garment district. These pouches are oversized on purpose. They are nearly 9 inches across and 5 inches deep. This “voluminous” size will give your beautiful frames plenty of room. The plush soft velvet on the inside will protect your lenses from scratches and dust. We are very proud of our latest creation.

Yes, we do!! Our frames are nominally 6mm – 8mm thick. This provides a thickness to contain thicker lenses that are common with prescription lenses. Recently we filled a prescription of -4.0 on a large cat eye frame.
At Nouvelle Chicane we make to order, we make locally in NYC, and we use additive manufacturing. Additive manufacturing is sometimes referred to as green manufacturing. We only add the needed material, rather than remove and discard what is not needed.
Over 50% of all eyewear is never worn, discarded and landfilled. Nouvelle Chicane makes each pair to order.

We use a variety of materials. Everything from polymers and composites to stainless steel. Recently we used brass. Check out the brass inserts in Staxz frames.

The streets of New York City are the ultimate fashion runway. To get on the “street level” we brought our design & creativity to the street. We have designed our own cups and distribute them on both Madison Avenue and Broadway. Our cups are hand printed by our team in midtown. The personal touch is everywhere at Nouvelle Chicane. If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere!
The idea of Nouvelle Chicane originated from the desire for design freedom. In the technical world, before any design change occurs there a generally review boards, design committees, design practices and peer consultations. This hierarchy limits, restricts and normalizes. Fashion, freedom and flair are casualties of this process. Then marketing uses focus groups and surveys to further normalize the remainder into the status quo. This is exactly why so many designs look so similar.
In the automotive world you cannot distinguish one SUV from another. Eyewear is now the same. However, when an Aston Martin or Ferrari passes you on the motorway, you take notice!
Nouvelle Chicane is your Aston Martin of Eyewear. Uniquely made in New York, then finished and fitted by the hand of the designer. Nouvelle Chicane means “new turn” and we have a new approach to eyewear design.
At Nouvelle Chicane every design idea is made and reviewed by the founder. A board of “one”. The final reviewer is you, the customer. Unique is an overused term, but these frames are special in every way. Appreciate the difference at Nouvelle Chicane.
