Nouvelle Chicane is working with copper tubing, brass rod, stainless steel, stainless braided cable and titanium. The material combinations are limitless as is our imagination.
Presently, copper provides us the most interesting design space. We polish it to a gleaming shine for some frames, but for others we will encourage a patina. This invokes an accelerated oxidation technique we developed in our studio. The patina gives a beautiful greenish blue color and granular texture detail. Nouvelle Chicane Inspirations:
Friday night December 9th, Nouvelle Chicane Eyewear visited the new exhibition at the MET museum on 5th Ave entitled Women Dressing Women. The exhibition was assembled by the famous and revered Costume Institute and its benefactor, the annual MET Gala
The exhibit includes dress designs from 1910 through today, including designers from Europe such as Jeanne Lanvin, Elsa Schiaparelli, and Madeleine Vionnet, and American houses such as Ann Lowe, Claire McCardell, and Isabel Toledo, Iris van Herpen, Rei Kawakubo, Anifa Mvuemba, and Simone Rocha.
The challenge: “find the ideal pairings between the finest dress at the exhibition and a Nouvelle Chicane frame from our latest collection.

We chose to do something a little different and set a challenge for our L’Orbitalli frames. While they look hot on the runways of Paris and Milan, would they handle the freezing cold of NYC?
Could we freeze them? Would they survive? See our time lapse video, for proof! It was fun. Our material was up to the job, and they can take plus 300 Fahrenheit too. DECEMBER 7, 2023 Brooklyn NYC: Nouvelle Chicane travelled from midtown (M to F train) to York St Station in DUMBO to visit the A.I.R. Gallery. Tomoko Amaki Abe had some interesting pieces on show that used light and dark moving projections. These were the most inspiring of the evening. The monochrome structures have similarities with what we use in our Forte frame.

L’Orbitalli Boutique Riviera Sunglass frame is now on display at her garment district boutique on 509 Ninth Avenue. This frame has throwback inspired 1960s styling making a bold fashion statement. This same frame debuted in Nouvelle Chicane’s very first collection at Paris Fashion Week and remains a French favorite and international standout. The name is based upon the Orbital bones that define our facial structures. The Classic Carbon Black L’Orbitalli is our favorite, but white is a pure stunner.. We only use high quality lenses, including gradient and flash mirror. This light, comfortable frame is our most head turning style. Made in the USA (NYC). Styled forever.

Nouvelle Chicane featured our boldest white frames on the MLC runway at the NYSWIMWEEK event at the Moxy Lower East Side NYC on Thursday October 26th, 2023.
Daniel stole the runway with the iconic look seen here. The White L’Orbitalli Visiera frame reflected the theme of the show. Carefully selected eyewear (mask) will change how you are perceived. These frames are on display now at Charlotte Jones Opticians, 9th Ave midtown NYC
