Nouvelle Chicane presented our latest Fashion Centric Eyewear in collaboration with the stunning collection presented by MLC Swimwear

Nouvelle Chicane featured our boldest white frames on the MLC runway at the NYSWIMWEEK event at the Moxy Lower East Side NYC on Thursday October 26th, 2023.

Daniel stole the runway with the iconic look seen here. The White L’Orbitalli Visiera frame reflected the theme of the show. Carefully selected eyewear (mask) will change how you are perceived. These frames are on display now at Charlotte Jones Opticians, 9th Ave midtown NYC

Stunning Swimsuits & Iconic Eyewear.

Iconic Allegretto Cat Eye Frame

NYFW Sept 7: Nouvelle Chicane Eyewear and Evita Scoccia’s Evita Store swimsuit collection combined for an evening of fashion & fine cocktails in downtown Manhattan at DOM. This, the inaugural event at a private downtown club, was an evening to remember. It was also the follow up to NYSW’s summer success. NOUVELLE CHICANE eyewear was called upon to compliment the stunning swimsuits developed by Evita Scoccia from her New York fashion house in midtown New York City. NOUVELLE CHICANE is co-located in Midtown Manhattan as well. The collaboration was natural. The result was stunning. Statuesque models stood on the edges of the stage posing and throw back 60s style while the DJ spun records and models dance like there was no end to the night. Visit Charlotte Jones Opticians to try on the eyewear shown here on 9th Avenue and 36th Street near Times Square and Evita Store for the beautiful swimwear.

Unsustainability in eyewear!                      Let’s break the bad habits of mass production and waste.

To manufacture your glasses; 4 x 6-inch blocks of acetate are cut into the shape of the frame. 80% is wasted and landfilled. This is called subtractive manufacturing and a wasteful approach.

Recent advances in manufacturing equipment and materials have made additive manufacturing (3D printing) a viable alternative process, that is also environmentally and ecologically conscious. Only the material needed for the frame is fully processed. Nouvelle Chicane chose this process as well as several other prestigious brands at the leading edge of this technology.

Inventory overruns are another wasteful impact to the environment generated by subtractive manufacturing. Why? high minimum lot quantities are needed to cover costly setup charges that conventional manufacturers demand. To keep costs down they typically need to run several hundred copies of the same frame. This creates piles of dusty inventory that many times ends up sold at a discount, or worse, landfilled.

When using additive manufacturing and a tightly controlled supply chain the batch size can be as small as one piece.

Nouvelle Chicane makes limited frames and works with our shops closely to support low inventories. Our process allows us to backfill quickly in 3 weeks with novel pieces.

See the following article for further details on additive versus subtractive manufacturing in eyewear. You can make an environmental impact today, by choosing Nouvelle Chicane Eyewear.

In the heart of Hell’s Kitchen and steps from Hudson Yards, I have had the pleasure of displaying our eyewear at https://www.charlottejonesopticians.com on 509 9th Avenue. Charlotte’s feedback has been invaluable to my collection. This month we have focused on the architectural copper and patina frames. The Forte Visiera Cuivre has been an attractive architectural piece. Our newest piece will be in store on May 6, 2023.
